Anything happening. No. Not really.
I’m starting a self-imposed “van off” against intothemystery13. Actually, it’s not a “van off” I’m just going to try and keep up with him during his latest van build. Hopefully that will keep me moving.
I’ve got my insulation, I’ve got my floor.
Today I gave my house fridge. So I will hopefully be forced to buy a 12v fridge now, or my milk will spoil.
I just got home from Bunnings not long ago. I’ve got a roll of foam to use as a spacer which I’ll sandwich between the chassis and the insulation. I still don’t have a layout planned. Just a lot of ideas. It’s starting to get cold now that winter has hit. I would sit out in the van until inspiration hits me, but I decided it’s nicer inside with the heater on.
Writing things down usually helps. The things I have been thinking about for that layout are:
Keywords: comfortable, efficient, simple — in that order I think.
I want the van to be a comfortable, lounge, open kind of area. I want a kitchen. I want a wardrobe.
I seem to have a morning routine, living in a house. This includes going to the toilet, within minutes of getting out of bed. I’m not sure if I can train myself out of that or not. I wasn’t going to bother with any toilet, but I might need to.
I also want the space to be an office. However, that might not be necessary. If the space is “comfortable”, it should be suitable for relaxing or working. I should stop thinking about them as two seperate requirements.
The kitchen I want as the back so I can stand at the back door cooking if I want to. I wonder if that is unnecessary as well.
The Fantastic vent would be installed at the centre of the back of the van as well for kitchen exhaust.
I’ve got all these ideas for desk/bench space that can fold out. Yeah, I don’t know. I’ll draw some more pictures. Spend some time in the van just staring at the walls and see if it all comes together.
