I really get bogged down with decisions. The solar panels, took ages to wrap my head around. In the end the decision for the panels, came down to being frustrated with trying to understand it all and just having one person recommend what he got and where from. Sold. Solar panels sorted.

Now the fridge has been the next headfuck. Two problems. Brand: Engel or Waeco/Dometic. Size.

I buy a few bags of frozen vegetables and usually have fish in the freezer. When I take a look in my house fridge, I really don’t have a lot — maybe milk and meals I’ve cooked and split in to serves that might last a few days. So it looked to me that a freezer was more important that a fridge.

One of the guys as work, chimes in and asks how my setup is going. He said he’d heard good thing about a brand called Bushman, which is Australian. He also said the Redarc stuff I’d got was good.

There’s an Australian-made theme popping up I’ve just realised!

Anyway, tonight. After being frustrated with the brand and size dilemma. I stumbled back across the Bushman brand and… chose has been made.

They use the danfoss compressor that the Waeco used anyway. They are designed in a modular way, as in the included accessories allow you to pick the size you need when you need it, from 35L up to 52L by adding a lid or collar. Someone mentioned adding multiple collars and building an 80L fridge.

It seems expensive compared to what I was expecting to pay for my fridge, but after reading the reviews, hearing about the backup support and the “build your size” feature… it comes with all the accessories.. so. I’ll just get it.

Now that I’ve given my house fridge away. I’m living out of a sink full of ice at the moment. The money I’m wasting on bags of ice can stop now too!
