Today I managed to cut the floor and get it in. I started using cardboard to make a template, but switched to the Foilboard insulation. I thought I was doing well. Until I finished laying it out and cutting it to size. I lay it over the old floor to see how much better my version of the floor was. Mine was terrible compared to the old floor I’d pulled out. So I took the old floor and used it as the template for the new floor.
I went and got a jigsaw from Bunnings before they closed. I probably could have borrowed one from someone but all day I’d just wanted to get the floor in and it was getting late.
So, after an entire day, so pretty slow progress, I did actually get the floor in, and it looks like a perfect fit. I’m glad I used the old floor as the template, because it was pretty perfect.
I template I made from insulation in under the floor. I’m not sure if I’m going to leave it as a bunch of off cuts and tape it together with insulation tape, or pull it out and cut it from whole sheets. I think I’ll just tape it together…
